SAGACITY AND SCRIPTURE (68)

Child psychologists have found that giving love and attention to a new born baby is very important in its growth and development. This is also true of older children and adults in life. One of the greatest aids in problem solving is love and encouragement. We can contribute to the well-being of others by continually showing Christian love. One of the side benefits is that those who do such also receive a blessing! It is no wonder that God said, through the apostle John, “And this commandment have we from Him, that he who loves God loves his brother also” (1Jn. 4:21). Find someone you can love and encourage! With sagacity, make the application to your life!

SAGACITY AND SCRIPTURE (69)

The story is told of a man who was an atheist. He “boasted” of not having any holidays in which to celebrate. A friend told him that there was one day on the calendar each year that was in honor of those who say there is no God. That day is April Fool’s Day.

Psalm 14:1 states; “The fool has said in his heart there is no God.” The creation “speaks” of a Creator; the design of the universe a Designer; such could never happen by chance.

Don’t make April Fool’s Day your day. If you have doubt, work through the arguments for the existence of God. Believing is more rational than not believing. With sagacity, make the application to your life!

SAGACITY AND SCRIPTURE (70)

Divorce is a problem. Some of the latest statistics say that 1 out of 2 marriages will end in divorce. This is very sad because the institution of marriage is from God and is designed to last a lifetime. God originated marriage as a divine arrangement where a man and woman would live together with the exclusion of all others throughout their lives. Marriage will survive if those who live in it will go back to the Bible and allow God’s book to guide, protect, and instruct spouses on how to treat each other. With sagacity, make the application to your life!

SAGACITY AND SCRIPTURE (71)

It seems only logical to believe that the marvelous and beautiful world we live in had to be created by a super intelligent and powerful force (Gen. 1:1). We call this force—God. As God was creating the animals, He made man much superior with eyes that see colors, a mind that reasons and remembers, hands that manipulate, and the ability to recognize good and evil. God made man in His own image (Gen. 1:26) giving him a living, eternal soul. Don’t underestimate God’s presence in the world today. It is His creation and He still works in it! With sagacity, make the application to your life!

SAGACITY AND SCRIPTURE (72)

Too many times in life we take our blessings for granted. The health we take pleasure in, the food on our table, and the roof over our head are things often enjoyed without gratitude. God provides all things and if you can read this article, can work, and have the things mentioned above you are blessed.

If you know God, have obeyed His Son, and strive to live by the Bible you are wonderfully blessed. May your life be one of gratitude for all that God has done. His blessings are physical, mental, social, and spiritual. Step back and take inventory and you will be surprised as to all that God has accomplished in your life. Give Him praise & glory! With sagacity, make the application to your life!

SAGACITY AND SCRIPTURE (73)

The renewal of Spring always gives great hope in life. We are amazed and even thrilled when we see nature come back to life. The dead of winter has been resurrected into color, growth, and reproduction.

Such renewal is possible for humans too! Jesus has promised a new life for Christians. As a child of God your sins will be forgiven, you will be a member of His church, and have the hope of eternal life.

Those who respond in faith, repentance, confession, and baptism receive these blessings. Are you ready, like Spring, to be resurrected into a new life? With sagacity, make the application to your life!

SAGACITY AND SCRIPTURE (74)

It won’t work unless you follow the directions! How many times have we been so prideful that instead of reading the instructions we go ahead and try to build or assemble something only to find out, it didn’t work! Our problem was not a lack of ability—but it was a lack of the proper know how.

Life is that way. It can be lived to its fullest only when we read and follow the directions! God’s instruction book is the Bible and it has everything we need (2Pet. 1:3).

So is it time to stop trying to do it on your own? Is it time to give up, and read the directions? With sagacity, make the application to your life!

SAGACITY AND SCRIPTURE (75)

Christians are to be salt and light (Mt. 5:13,14). This means that our words and lifestyle should be exemplary of how people are to live. As salt we become that which improves and lengthens life. As light we become wisdom and knowledge.

One very important way you can help those around you, and even those you don’t know is by living a Christian life that will show integrity. Your life may be the only Bible that some people will ever read. Being salt and light will show someone who is searching or having problems the way to live above their struggles. With sagacity, make the application to your life!

SAGACITY AND SCRIPTURE (76)

Have you ever heard someone say, “What’s wrong with this picture?” They probably have reference to something that is painstakingly obvious to them but not to someone else.  In a world full of greed, materialism, theft, pornography, and lies; one can look and say, “What is wrong with this picture?”

The answer to the question is sin. Sin is what is wrong with the world. While some will scoff at this somewhat simplistic answer it is nevertheless true. Jesus came to earth because the world was lost in sin. If you look at your life and wonder “what’s wrong with this picture?” the answer may very well be—sin. With sagacity, make the application to your life!

SAGACITY AND SCRIPTURE (77)

Jobs are a very important part of the nation’s economy. Families function better in providing for themselves when there is at least one in the household who has a job.

Spiritually speaking there are other kinds of jobs in each family. The husband has the job of loving his wife; wives must respect their husbands; and parents must provide for their children. But what job do children have? Paul, in Eph. 6:1, answers that question. Children have the job of obeying their parents. If they will do that they will have a long and productive life (Eph. 6:2,3).

A secular job that will only bring a measure of wealth; the best job for a child is to love and obey their mom and dad. With sagacity, make the application to your life!

SAGACITY AND SCRIPTURE (78)

The New Testament instructs Christians to dress modestly or appropriately (1Tim. 2:9,10). Christians are not to draw attention to themselves by what they do or do not wear. They are not to become objects of desire. To act or dress inappropriately invites trouble (Mt. 5:27,28).

As the warmer, Summer weather is upon us may we think twice about how we are dressed. Are we giving the wrong message by our attire? Are we known for our apparel or lack thereof? It is one thing to be attractive and dress for the occasion, but is quite another when we dress to invite improper thoughts and advances. As you go out today, how are you dressed? With sagacity, make the application to your life!

SAGACITY AND SCRIPTURE (79)

While some may view Christianity as a set of rules that mostly say, “Don’t,” God actually wants people to be healthy and happy. The medical profession tells us that many of the physical and mental illnesses we have are caused by envy, anxiety, hate, pride, selfishness, and greed. Man could eliminate much of his problems if he could rid himself of these mental and spiritual ‘sins’ (Prov. 10:27).  The person who earnestly tries to live as the Bible Teaches avoids many mental and physical problems. Christian living can help you live longer and happier. With sagacity, make the application to your life!

SAGACITY AND SCRIPTURE (80)

There are many battlefronts in life. Some would consider the economy a major battle—they wants jobs a plenty, and good ones at that! Some consider one’s physical health to be at the forefront. They fight for clean, wholesome food with an absence of chemicals and additives. But the most important battle is spiritual. We are in a fight with the devil for our own soul (Eph. 6:11). No matter what other battles one wins, the battle for eternity must be primary. How are you doing in your battle against temptation and sin? You can only win it through Jesus Christ. With sagacity, make the application to your life!

SAGACITY AND SCRIPTURE (81)

Some have the concept of God that says He is a “cosmic cop” always looking to find someone guilty of sin. This view of God sees Him not as the Redeemer and Savior but as an enforcer and punisher. The truth is that God wants everyone man, woman, and child to go to heaven. He made it simple and easy to accept His eternal blessings. All He asks is that a person be born anew through baptism and strive to live the abundant life of Christian. God sends His Holy Spirit to encourage, guide, and strengthen each new Christian. God is always ready to forgive! Need an attitude adjustment about God? With sagacity, make the application to your life!

SAGACITY AND SCRIPTURE (82)

God will bless the nations that look to Him for guidance (Psa. 33:12). The United States was founded upon the Christian principle that all men are created equal under God and that all human life is of divine origin. This country has prospered beyond any country which has ever existed and will continue to as long as we reverence God and conduct our national affairs in keeping with His commands. We, as individuals, have the same promise of abundant blessings as long as we let God govern our lives. Our future will be doom and gloom if we abandon God’s principles of godliness—that is the testimony of history. May God bless as we do His will! With sagacity, make the application to your life!

SAGACITY AND SCRIPTURE (83)

There are many difficult situations in life that seem to be hopeless. Problem solving by yourself can be very depressing. Sharing your problems with others is a help, but the greatest Helper is Jesus. God’s wisdom is unlimited, and it is always available (Jas. 1:5) to those who put Jesus first in their lives. Many people rely on God for comfort, strength, wisdom, and courage to face life’s difficult situations. God is always willing to accept you if you will let Him guide your life (Prov. 3:5,6). With sagacity, make the application to your life!

SAGACITY AND SCRIPTURE (84)

While many in the world don’t know it, God has His own VIP (very important person) list. His criteria for that list is that a person accept Jesus as Lord in baptism. The blessings of forgiveness of sins and the Holy Spirit follow (Ac. 2:38). Christians are thought of by God as a chosen people, royalty, holy, and special (see 1Pet. 2:9). Christians have been called out of the world’s darkness and into His marvelous light. While God loves everyone in the world, Christians are VIPs in His eyes. You can have great confidence and self-esteem by giving your life to God. With sagacity, make the application to your life!

SAGACITY AND SCRIPTURE (85)

Is it quantity or quality? This argument must be settled in order to know how to live life. Many have chosen the “quantity route” and spend their lives in the acquiring of all kinds of wealth and material goods. Others have chosen to be rich in quality. They find satisfaction in things such as peace, love, gentleness, and joy. The sad part about living for quantity is that one’s greed will never be satisfied (Lk. 12:15). But those who focus on being what God wants them to be (people of quality) find satisfaction and fulfillment. Win the quantity/quality argument in your life by becoming a Christian. With sagacity, make the application to your life!
